The Best Smart Thermometer for Babies and Infants
I thought I had seen it all when it comes to baby thermometers. As a pediatric nurse, I have tried every infant thermometer in the world…or have I? I just discovered smart thermometers and I am in LOVE. Thermometers have come such a long way in accuracy, speed, and comfort. I really thought there was nothing left to improve upon. I was wrong.
Now you can Bluetooth your results to your smart phone, record results for each family member, analyze patterns, and record symptoms.

What should you look for in a smart thermometer for your baby?
- Accuracy- Accuracy is always the most important aspect of any thermometer.
- Comfort-The less invasive the better.
- Speed- Ain’t nobody got time for a slow thermometer!
- Backlit screen- You need to be able to see those temps in the dark at 3am.
- Silent mode- Only the truly evil like to wake sleeping babies.
- Memory- The more recordings a thermometer can store, the better. Bonus points if you can store names of multiple family members because in a family of six I couldn’t tell you whose temperature I took last.
- Symptom checker- Some smart thermometers actually let you check off symptoms and help you decide if you need to phone the pediatrician. Anything that saves time waiting on a nurse call back is a win in my book.
- Affordability- I’d rather spend my money on fun stuff- Like chocolate.
- Hygienic- Kids are going to share germs enough without us helping them out.
Withings Thermo Smart Thermometer The Best Smart Forehead Thermometer
The Withings Thermo is such a cool thermometer! I’m geeking out over it just a little bit. First off, it looks nice and is very “techy”. I know that isn’t important, but if you have to buy a baby thermometer, you may as well get one you like to look at.
Hot spot technology- Swipe the thermometer across your infant’s forehead and to his temple. Without you even touching your child, the Withings Thermo will use its 16 infrared sensors to scan 4,000 times in two seconds, giving you an accurate temperature.
No need to touch your child, so no worries about waking up your little one, spreading germs, or causing discomfort.
Syncs to your smartphone automatically via Bluetooth.
Helps you decide if you need to contact the pediatrician by analyzing symptoms, temperature, and age. All of this is possible using the app, which was developed by Boston Children’s Hospital.
You can take notes, add photos, and set reminders (like when to give fever reducers). You will be able to show the comprehensive health journal to your pediatrician at visits. This is super helpful for tired, stressed out parents.
Store up to eight users BY NAME (how fabulous is that?). All my large family mamas out there can shout for joy.

You infant’s temperature will be sent via Bluetooth to your smart phone. You will receive an alarm if your little one develops a fever.
– Get alerts when your baby develops a fever
– Receive medicine reminders when it’s time for fever reducers
– Parents can share the temperature graph with their pediatrician
– Easy placement underarm with adhesive pad (10 patches included)
– Rinse with soap and warm water after each use to keep it clean for years of use
– Place back in carrying case to automatically turn off thermometer, preserving battery life
– Get up to 3 years of battery life with no charging required! No button batteries to worry about.
One question I frequently hear from parents is “How often do I need to check their temperature?” I have always had to tell them to check every few hours or when their child feels warmer, but that makes for a sleepless night. This thermometer completely eliminates this problem. Parents can rest easy knowing that they will be alerted if their baby develops a fever.
One con I can see is that some children might have a localized reaction to the adhesive patch. Another is the Bluetooth reliability if your bedroom is not very close to your child’s. The later can be solved by placing your phone in your baby’s room and listening to it via the monitor.
